Fratres:

The recent attacks on the United States have left us all stunned.

As of today, we know of no SAM that has been lost in these tragic events. Our fervent hope is that we will hear of none in the days to come. Contact with our Mu Omicron chapter at NYU indicates that all undergraduate members of the chapter are OK. We encourage anyone who knows of a member that has been injured or lost to let the Fraternity know.

Regardless of who has been killed or injured these horrific events effect us all. I already know that SAMs everywhere will respond to these attacks as we have throughout our history, both as soldiers and citizens to defend freedom and democracy against all who would attach these cherished ideals.

Already many chapters have taken steps to give blood, collect food and raise funds to support the efforts to help those in need. I encourage all chapters, alumni clubs and members to contribute in some way to help the address these events and to let us know what you are doing. In the days to come the Fraternity will consider what we can do as an organization to address these terrible events. We all need to join together in replacing the anger initially felt with a resolve to move forward, thoughtless acts of revenge against any groups must be avoided.

SAM's ideals of manhood, democracy and humanity will help see the Fraternity and the world through these trouble times. As Fraternity men it is our duty and obligation to take this tragedy and move forward with commitment to make the world a better place.

Fraternally yours,

Aaron M. Girson
Executive Director
