Campaign Initiatives
ΣΑΜ has spent 98 years building a Fraternity. Now we are going to build an enhanced Foundation to do what we need to do and what the majority of fraternities are already doing. It is our first major fund raising effort, with a goal of $5 million. A forward step.
These five initiatives have been identified as the keys to unlock our second century.
The Leadership Conference
The Foundation's premier leadership activity is the Leadership Conference held in connection with the ΣΑΜ convention for the student leaders from all chapters and colonies. It is necessary that it be endowed to insure its continuation and enhancement.
Giving opportunities range from $25,000 to permanently endow attendance of one student delegate, up to the $750,000 gift to name the Leadership Conference. Other giving opportunities are available.
Sammy Scholars
For the purposes of recognition of student scholastic effort and encouragement of a healthy academic atmosphere in the chapter setting, this program will grant $200 to every active chapter member who earns a 3.75/4.0 grade average (or equivalent) in any fall term, to be annually adjusted to meet inflation.
Permanent endowment gift choices range from $25,000, which will endow five Sammy Scholar stipends, up to $1 million for the entire program. Naming opportunity is $500,000.
Chapter Leaders Days
These are nine annual regional one-day educational leadership conferences located for easy access by key chapter officers and emerging leaders.
There are two giving opportunities: $50,000 to endow one of the CLDs, $25,000 to endow one of the CLD luncheons; endowment of an entire CLD would be $75,000.
Foundation Headquarters
All national/international fraternities have foundations; a majority own headquarter buildings that rent space to the fraternity for its headquarters as well. Sharing a facility in this way is now the generally accepted and most economical way to headquarter both organizations.
This will be a practical working headquarters, whether built or bought, arrayed for pursuit of separate purposes, with space for conferences, ceremonies and library facilities. It is time at last, after a century, for the Sammy Family to have a home of its own.
Giving opportunities range from $50,000 for one leadership consultant's work station, up to $750,000 to name the new HQ. Other opportunities may be tailored, for memorials, plaques, a specific room, etc.
Alumni Engagement
This program puts in place a much-needed new mode of communication with alumni, and provides the staffing. It means we will no longer depend solely on chapter alumni relations efforts and add greater continuity and permanency to alumni outreach. It will ultimately prove helpful to alumni clubs, alumni reunions, and alumni of dormant chapters. A new innovation that will be directed from the Foundation headquarters.
Above is a condensed version of giving opportunities. However, most welcome is any contribution which will serve educational, cultural or charitable purposes that fit the Foundation's mission.
